Focus Group Discussion “Strengthening Student Competencies in International Standard Hospitality Accounting through Local Wisdom SASAMBO: MBKM Internship Integration”

Mataram, 18 July 2024 – The Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram (FEB Unram) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme “Strengthening Student Competence in International Standard Hospitality Accounting through Local Wisdom SASAMBO: Integration of MBKM Internships” at the Lombok Astoria Hotel. This event began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreement (IA) with partners, which signifies a joint commitment to improving the quality of student education and training in the field of hotel accounting. After the signing session, the event continued with a presentation session discussing various important topics. One of the main presentations was about how to face the challenges of the world of work, which is very relevant for students who are preparing for internships in various hotels and companies. The participants also gained insight into building smart villages through the role of students in independent studies for digital village transformation. The Dean of FEB Unram, in his speech, stated, “The integration of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program with internships in the hotel industry is a strategic step to ensure our students are ready to face global demands while still prioritizing local SASAMBO wisdom.” With this event, FEB Unram hopes to continue to support the development of student competencies so they are ready to compete at the international level, without forgetting local values which become cultural identity.
