International Community Services Program: Developing Sustainable Tourism Observatory FEB UNRAM

On August 20, 2024, the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram proudly hosted the “International Community Services Program: Developing Sustainable Tourism Observatory” event which took place at The Gade Creative Lounge Room. This event is the result of an extraordinary collaboration between the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia. This program aims to develop a sustainable tourism observatory, which will become a center for information and development of responsible and environmentally friendly tourism. In this event, various experts and practitioners from various fields were present to share their knowledge and experiences in supporting sustainable tourism development, both in Indonesia and internationally. This activity also became a forum for the exchange of ideas and best practices between academics, tourism practitioners, and international institutions. In addition, this event strengthened the cooperative relationship between the University of Mataram and its international partners in a joint effort to encourage sustainable tourism growth that benefits local communities. In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram emphasized the importance of global collaboration in facing the challenges of modern tourism. He also appreciated the active participation of UNDP and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia in this program, which is a step forward for the development of sustainable tourism in the Southeast Asia region. This event is expected to be an important milestone in the development of sustainable tourism observatories in Indonesia, as well as an inspiration for similar initiatives around the world.
