North Lombok, October 10, 2024 – The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of the University of Mataram (UNRAM) introduced the beauty of Lombok tourism to guests from the School of Economic Finance and Banking (SEFB) of the University of Utara Malaysia (UUM) through an exploration activity of three Gili islands, namely Gili Trawangan, Gili Air, and Gili Meno. This activity is part of an effort to strengthen international relations while promoting local tourism potential to academic partners from abroad. The exploration series began with a visit to Gili Trawangan, the largest of the three Gili islands, known for its beautiful beaches, stunning coral reefs, and vibrant atmosphere. The delegation from SEFB UUM was warmly welcomed and invited to enjoy the natural beauty and see firsthand how sustainable tourism is implemented on the island. Next, the exploration continued to Gili Meno, a Gili with an oasis of tranquility, perfect for those who want to relax. Here, guests from SEFB UUM were invited to enjoy the beauty of the island and its pristine nature. Next, the exploration continued to Gili Air, which offers a peaceful atmosphere with beautiful white sandy beaches and clear sea water. Participants were given the opportunity to explore local life and interact with the local community, while understanding the growing economic potential of tourism in the area. Through this activity, FEB UNRAM not only introduced the natural beauty of Lombok, but also opened opportunities for further collaboration in the field of sustainable tourism and the creative economy. Guests from SEFB UUM expressed their admiration for Lombok’s extraordinary tourism potential, and expressed interest in exploring more cooperation in the future. The exploration of the three Gilis also became a means for FEB UNRAM to promote local tourism, show the economic potential that can be developed through this sector, and strengthen international relations with UUM in the academic and social fields.
