Focus Group Discussion Mapping Academic Positions in the Accounting Department, FEB Unram: Increasing Lecturer Competence

Mataram, 8 June 2024 – The Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram (FEB Unram) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the topic “Mapping Academic Positions for the Accounting Department”. This event took place in the Multimedia Room FEB Unram and aimed to map the number and competency of lecturers expected in the Accounting department.

This activity was attended by various lecturers and teaching staff from the Accounting Department, FEB Unram. This FGD is a strategic step to ensure that lecturer competencies are in line with educational needs and the increasingly dynamic development of the accounting industry.

In his speech, the Head of the Accounting Department, FEB Unram, Baiq Anggun Hilendri Lestari, SE., M.Sc., Ak., CA, conveyed the importance of this competency mapping to improve the quality of teaching and research in the academic environment. “With this mapping, we can identify existing strengths and weaknesses, as well as formulate appropriate development strategies for lecturers,” he said.

This interactive discussion covered various aspects of competencies that lecturers must have, including teaching skills, research abilities, and mastery of information technology. The participants also discussed the challenges and opportunities faced in developing these competencies.

It is hoped that the results of this FGD can serve as a guide in designing lecturer development programs that are more effective and in line with the needs of the FEB Unram Accounting department. Apart from that, this mapping will also help in planning the recruitment of new lecturers who have the qualifications needed to support the faculty’s vision and mission.

The event closed with conclusions and recommendations that will be followed up in the near future. With this step, FEB Unram is committed to continuing to improve the quality of education and producing graduates who are competent and ready to compete in the world of work.
