Curtin University Australia Student Visit to Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram
The Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram (FEB UNRAM) enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of a student delegation from Curtin University, Australia, on November 29, 2024. The welcoming ceremony took place in The Gade Creative Lounge, FEB UNRAM, which became the main location for discussion and exchange of ideas.
The visit was part of a cross-cultural learning program designed to explore the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the local level. Curtin University students were in Lombok for a few days to take part in various activities focusing on sustainability and cross-cultural collaboration.
The first day of the visit was opened with an interactive discussion between Curtin University and FEB UNRAM students, discussing the implementation of SDGs in various sectors, such as economy, environment, and education. FEB UNRAM students also presented several excellent community-based programs that they run to support sustainable development in Lombok.
As part of the series of events, Curtin University delegates also attended the Cultural Night held at Aston Inn Mataram Hotel. The event serves as a platform to introduce Indonesian culture, especially Sasambo culture, through traditional art performances such as dances and regional music. Curtin University students also participated in several sessions, such as dancing together and tasting local specialties. The atmosphere of the evening reflected the spirit of close cross-cultural friendship.
In addition to the discussion and Cultural Night, Curtin University students are scheduled to take part in several other activities, including thematic workshops on sustainability, field visits to SDGs-based projects, and a reflection session at the end of the visit. All activities are designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the implementation of SDGs in Lombok while strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.
This visit is expected to be the first step towards wider collaboration between Curtin University and FEB UNRAM, especially in the field of education and research that is globally oriented and sustainable. In this spirit, both parties are committed to creating real impact in supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals.
