Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Unram Holds Public Lecture Discussing the Impact of Sea Level Rise on Basic Services in NTB
Mataram, October 21, 2025 — In celebration of its 62nd Dies Natalis, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), University of Mataram held a Public Lecture titled “The Impact of Rising Sea Levels on Basic Services in West Nusa Tenggara Province: Development Challenges in the Era of Climate Change.” The event was conducted on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 1.30 PM to 3.00 PM WITA at the Theater Room, 3rd Floor, Building C, FEB University of Mataram.
The lecture featured Maliki, S.T., MSIE, Ph.D., Deputy for Community Empowerment, Population, and Manpower of the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), as the keynote speaker. During his presentation, he highlighted the need for strong multi-stakeholder collaboration to address climate change impacts on basic public services, particularly for coastal areas in West Nusa Tenggara.
“The increasing climate-related risks call for policy reform and strengthened public services to ensure sustainable and inclusive regional development,” he emphasized.
Dean of FEB University of Mataram, Dr. Ihsan Ro’is, M.Si., in his opening remarks, stated that climate change must be taken seriously by universities and youth as key drivers of regional development. FEB Unram remains committed to becoming a hub for education, research, and collaborative initiatives in sustainable development for the NTB region.
The session was moderated by Dr. Firman, Lecturer of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram. The discussion was highly interactive, with enthusiastic participants raising questions on policy, development data, and local climate adaptation strategies.
Participants received comprehensive insights, seminar materials, e-certificates, networking opportunities, and exclusive door prizes.
Through this program, FEB University of Mataram aims to enhance students’ and the public’s understanding of regional development issues amid climate change, while strengthening academic contributions to inclusive and sustainable public policy.
