Mataram, July 2, 2026 – The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Mataram (FEB Unram), organized a Human Resource Development Workshop entitled “Hospitality in Higher Education” on Thursday (2/7) at the Main Conference Room, Building A, FEB Unram. The workshop was attended by administrative staff across the faculty as part of FEB Unram’s ongoing commitment to improving service quality and strengthening a culture of excellence in academic administration.

The workshop featured Kertajadi, M.Par., MHLTR. as the keynote speaker, who shared valuable insights into the importance of integrating hospitality principles into higher education services. His presentation emphasized that excellent service is no longer exclusive to the hospitality industry but has become an essential component of creating a professional, responsive, and student-centered academic environment.

The event commenced with opening remarks by Lalu Muh. Isnaini, S.E., Head of the General Affairs Division of FEB Unram. In his speech, he emphasized that the workshop was organized to strengthen the quality of services provided to the academic community.

“This workshop is part of our commitment to continuously improving the quality of services for our academic community. Excellent service is fundamental to building a professional working environment and delivering the best possible experience for students, lecturers, and all stakeholders of FEB Unram,” he stated.

The second welcoming address was delivered by Eni Indriani, S.E., M.A., Head of the Diploma III Accounting Study Program. She explained that the workshop was initially intended exclusively for the administrative staff of the Diploma III Accounting Study Program. However, recognizing the significant contributions made by the faculty-level administrative staff, the program was expanded to include all administrative personnel within FEB Unram.

“Initially, this workshop was planned only for the administrative staff of the Diploma III Accounting Study Program. However, I believe this program should involve all administrative staff at the faculty level. Their dedication and collaboration—from preparing accreditation documents to supporting the on-site assessment process—played a crucial role in helping the Diploma III Accounting Study Program achieve Excellent Accreditation. Faculty administrative staff made invaluable contributions throughout the entire process,” she remarked.

During the main session, Kertajadi presented various hospitality concepts applicable to higher education institutions, including effective communication, quality service delivery, positive interactions with students and lecturers, and the development of a professional, solution-oriented service culture. Participants were encouraged to view excellent service as a key element in strengthening the institution’s reputation and enhancing stakeholder satisfaction.

The workshop was conducted in an interactive format, allowing participants to exchange experiences and discuss challenges commonly encountered in academic administrative services. Through open discussions and practical case studies, participants explored strategies for continuously improving service quality and fostering greater collaboration across administrative units.

Through this initiative, FEB Unram expects its administrative staff to develop a deeper understanding of hospitality principles and their role in delivering outstanding services to the academic community. Beyond enhancing technical competencies, the workshop is also expected to strengthen professionalism, teamwork, empathy, and a service-oriented mindset throughout the faculty.

The Human Resource Development Workshop reflects FEB Unram’s ongoing commitment to investing in the professional growth of its administrative personnel. By cultivating a culture of excellent service, FEB Unram continues to strengthen its institutional capacity to provide high-quality, responsive, and globally competitive educational services for students, lecturers, and the wider community.
