FEB Unram Holds Guest Lecture on Integrating Sustainable Tourism and Sustainable Education Literacy between Indonesia and Australia

Mataram, September 12, 2025 — The Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram (FEB Unram), once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting international academic development by organizing a Guest Lecture titled “Integrating Sustainable Tourism and Sustainable Education Literacy between Indonesia–Australia”. The event took place on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the FEB Unram Theater Hall.
The session featured an international speaker, Dr. David Zhang, a lecturer from Murdoch University, Australia, who shared global insights on the importance of integrating sustainable tourism with sustainable education literacy. In his presentation, Dr. Zhang emphasized that tourism and education are inseparable in driving sustainable development, particularly in regions with high tourism potential such as West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
“We believe that sustainable tourism requires the support of an education system that nurtures environmental, social, and economic awareness. Integrating the two will create a generation that not only enjoys tourism but also safeguards its sustainability,” explained Dr. Zhang.
In his remarks, the Dean of FEB Unram highlighted that the presence of international academics such as Dr. Zhang reflects FEB Unram’s ongoing efforts to strengthen global collaboration. “Academic cooperation between Indonesia and Australia, especially through forums like this, is expected to enrich students’ perspectives and broaden networks for research and scientific development,” he stated.
The event was attended by students, lecturers, and invited guests who actively engaged in discussions on the opportunities and challenges of integrating sustainable tourism with education. Moreover, this Guest Lecture served as a strategic step for FEB Unram to strengthen its role as an educational institution actively contributing to the advancement of sustainable tourism in NTB.
Through this Guest Lecture, FEB Unram aims to open wider opportunities for collaboration with international universities while providing its academic community with valuable global learning experiences.
