Mataram, April 22, 2026<\/strong> \u2013 Another proud achievement has been made by a student of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram (FEB Unram). Baiq Isna Nur\u2019aini, a student of the Undergraduate Accounting Program at FEB Unram, successfully won First Place in the Universitas Siliwangi Library Award 2026 through her scientific paper addressing issues of development and social justice in the Mandalika area.<\/p>\n

The competition, organized by the Library of Universitas Siliwangi, took place from January 20 to April 14, 2026. The series of events began with registration and paper submission, followed by a manuscript selection process to determine the top 10 finalists, and concluded with the final judging stage to decide the winners.<\/p>\n

In an interview with FEB Unram Public Relations on Tuesday (22\/4), Baiq Isna explained that she had been preparing the paper since early February 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were two themes determined by the committee, namely \u2018Justice Inequality: Corruption versus Petty Crime\u2019 and \u2018Local Wisdom versus National Strategic Development.\u2019 I chose the second theme because I believe it is still rarely explored. In addition, the research object I wanted to highlight was Mandalika, and since I come from Pujut, that further strengthened my reason for choosing the theme,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

In the competition, Baiq Isna presented a paper entitled \u201cThe Roar of Engines on the Land of Guardians: Measuring Agrarian Justice and Social Accountability in the Development of the Mandalika Circuit.\u201d<\/em> Through her writing, she attempted to examine the development of Mandalika from two different perspectives.<\/p>\n

According to her, the development of the Mandalika Circuit has indeed brought positive impacts in the form of increased job opportunities and economic growth for the community. However, on the other hand, changes in the social and economic structure of society have also become important concerns.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis development has certainly created many job opportunities. However, when viewed from another perspective, the community is becoming increasingly dependent on the tourism sector, especially with the transformation of local livelihoods from an agrarian coastal area into an international tourism destination,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

She also highlighted that most of the jobs created are contextual and seasonal in nature, making them vulnerable to fluctuations in the tourism industry. According to her, this condition has not yet been able to guarantee income stability for affected communities, particularly in the Central Lombok Regency area.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, development should not merely be interpreted as infrastructure acceleration and economic growth. Development must be understood as a process of organizing living spaces in a fair and sustainable manner. The Mandalika Circuit may become a symbol of progress, but true progress emerges when local wisdom is not marginalized, but instead positioned as the foundation,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Baiq Isna emphasized that the state, through its agrarian authority, is required not only to control land, but also to ensure that every land policy is truly oriented toward social justice as mandated by the constitution.<\/p>\n

This achievement serves as evidence of FEB Unram students\u2019 commitment to producing scientific works that are critical, relevant, and capable of providing academic perspectives on regional development issues. The success of Baiq Isna Nur\u2019aini is expected to inspire other students to continue achieving and contributing through impactful scientific thought for society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
