The Department of Economics and Development Studies, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), University of Mataram will hold a Visiting Professor activity with the theme “Introduction to The Economics of Eco-Tourism” on Monday, June 19, 2023. This activity will take place in Building C, 3rd Floor, FEB UNRAM Theater Room, and will present Prof. Budi P. Resosudarmo, BSc, MSc, Ph.D., an international expert in the field of development economics and ecotourism.

In this seminar, Prof. Budi Resosudarmo will provide an in-depth understanding of the role of economics in the development of sustainable ecotourism. He will discuss how ecotourism can be a driver of local economies without damaging the environment, and how the sector can support the achievement of sustainable development goals at the global level. Prof. Resosudarmo will also review the challenges faced in developing ecotourism, including wise management of natural resources and development of policies that support the growth of an environmentally friendly tourism industry.

This activity aims to provide new insights for students and academics about the importance of ecotourism in the context of sustainable economic development. In addition, this seminar will also open up a wider discussion space on how the tourism sector can be utilized to improve the quality of life of local communities, especially in areas rich in natural diversity, but vulnerable to exploitation of natural resources.

This Visiting Professor is expected to enrich participants’ knowledge about green economy and sustainability, as well as encourage further collaboration between universities and various related sectors to create innovative solutions in advancing ecotourism. In addition, this event is also a valuable opportunity for FEB UNRAM students and lecturers to discuss directly with one of the leading experts in this field, who has extensive experience in global economic policy and development studies.
