Education Delivery System

The implementation of education at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram, is carried out using the Semester Credit System (SKS).

Definition of Semester Credit System (SKS)

  1. The Semester Credit System (SKS) is an educational administration system where the student study load, lecturer workload, and the administration of the educational program are expressed in credits or credit units.
  2. Semester: A semester is the smallest unit of time used to state the duration of a specific level of an educational program. The unit of time for academic activities lasts for 16 (sixteen) weeks of face-to-face sessions, plus 1 week of cooling-off period and 4 weeks of exams and evaluation.
  3. Academic Year: Each academic year is divided into 2 semesters: the Odd Semester and the Even Semester.
  4. For Lectures, Responses, or Tutorials: One Semester Credit Unit (1 SKS) consists of:
    • 50 (fifty) minutes of face-to-face learning process per week per semester.
    • 60 (sixty) minutes of structured assignment activities per week per semester.
    • 60 (sixty) minutes of independent activities per week per semester.
  5. For Seminars or Similar Forms: One Semester Credit Unit (1 SKS) consists of:
    • 100 (one hundred) minutes of learning process per week per semester.
    • 70 (seventy) minutes of independent activities per week per semester.
  6. For Practical Forms: One Semester Credit Unit (1 SKS) for learning processes such as practicum, studio practice, workshop practice, field practice, work practice, research, design, or development, military training, student exchange, internship, entrepreneurship, and/or Community Service consists of 170 (one hundred and seventy) minutes per week per semester.

Characteristics of the Semester Credit System

The Semester Credit System has the following characteristics:

  1. Students are given the opportunity to determine the pace at which they complete their study program.
  2. Students are offered academic education programs according to the curriculum under the guidance of an Academic Advisor (PA).

Objectives of the Semester Credit System

  1. General Objective: To create varied educational programs by providing broader possibilities for students to choose programs leading to a specific professional level according to their interests and abilities.
  2. Specific Objectives:
    1. To provide opportunities for capable and diligent students to complete their studies in a shorter time.
    2. To provide opportunities for students to take courses that suit their interests, talents, and intellectual capabilities.
    3. To facilitate curriculum adjustments from time to time in line with the rapid development of knowledge and technology.
    4. To enable the possibility of credit transfer within certain limits.
    5. To facilitate student transfers from one higher education institution to another more easily (specific regulations regarding transfers are governed separately).

Academic Administration

  1. Academic administration is a series of activities carried out by students, Academic Advisors, and the Academic Sub-Division during a specific semester to ensure the implementation of the semester credit system runs optimally. These activities involve documenting academic requirements, including:
    1. Study Plan Card (KRS)
    2. Study Result Card (KHS)
    3. Study Plan Revision Card (Cancellation or Replacement)
  2. Study Plan Card (KRS): A card showing the student’s study plan for each semester. It is filled out (planned) by the student, then validated and approved by the Academic Advisor, and administered by the Academic Sub-Division.
Note: If the KHS has not been issued for any reason, students are permitted to program a maximum of 12 SKS according to the academic calendar. Once the KHS is issued, students are allowed to make changes in accordance with the academic calendar.
  3. Study Result Card (KHS): Academic documentation that informs the entire record of a student’s learning activities in a specific semester. It includes the number of courses taken, the number of SKS, grades for each course, the Semester Grade Point Average (IPS), the Cumulative Grade Point Average (IPK), and the maximum number of SKS that can be taken in the following semester.
  4. Online System: Filling out the KRS and making changes to the KRS is done online via https://sia.unram.ac.id/.
