FEB Unram International Collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Kelantan: Strengthening Lombok’s Tourism Potential

The Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram (FEB UNRAM) enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of the delegation from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK). The welcoming event took place at The Gade Creative Lounge, FEB UNRAM on Thursday, January 9 2025.
This is the first time UMK has visited Mataram University and it is hoped that this activity can become a gateway for close collaboration between the two parties. Dean of FEB, Mr Dr. Ihsan Ro’is, St, M.Sc. and Mr. Lalu M. Furkan, SE, MM., Ph.D. gave a speech and continued with sharing regarding tourism in Lombok. Lombok is a place that is famous for its tourism sector, therefore it is hoped that this collaboration will make a significant contribution in the development of sustainable tourist destinations in the future. In this way, Lombok will be increasingly recognized as one of the leading destinations in Indonesia. The event which took place at The Gade Creative Lounge ended with Mr. Ihsan handing over a plaque to Dr. Pavitira Manogaran, MBA, Ph.D.
The discussion activities then continued in the Chancellor’s Meeting Room, UNRAM Rectorate. In discussing the potential for international collaboration at this time, Prof. Akmaluddin, S.T., M.Sc.(Eng.), Ph.D.; as Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation and Information Systems at the University of Mataram emphasized that UNRAM, especially the Faculty of Economics and Business, is open to collaboration with the Faculty of Hospitality, Tourism and Wellness UMK “This collaboration covers various aspects, such as online teaching for international classes, holding joint conferences, as well as collaborative research, so it is necessary to sign a formal agreement first,” said Prof. Akmaluddin
It is hoped that this discussion can create new opportunities for cooperation between the two universities, both collaboration in the academic field and development in the tourism sector in each country. Through this synergy, we can jointly face global challenges and make a significant contribution to the tourism industry, thereby bringing greater benefits to society.
